Aurangabad, Jul 4: In a chilling incident that has left the people of Aurangabad district stunned, a newly married woman has been arrested for orchestrating the cold-blooded murder of her husband, allegedly to continue an illicit relationship with her 52-year-old uncle.

The deceased, identified as 24-year-old Priyanshu Kumar Singh, was gunned down near Navinagar railway station on the night of June 24 — merely 45 days after tying the knot with Gunja Singh. What initially appeared to be a case of contract killing soon unravelled into a tale of betrayal and forbidden love that shocked investigators.

According to police sources, Gunja had been in a long-standing relationship with her maternal uncle, Jeevan Singh. Despite resistance from her family, she was married off to Priyanshu in May. However, unable to detach herself emotionally, Gunja allegedly plotted her husband's murder with Jeevan.

Investigations revealed that the accused duo roped in two contract killers from Jharkhand’s Garhwa district — Jaishankar Choubey and Mukesh Sharma — to carry out the crime. On the fateful night, Priyanshu had reportedly contacted his wife and shared his location. Gunja, in turn, relayed the information to Jeevan Singh, following which the hired shooters executed the plan.

Aurangabad police, acting on call recordings and electronic surveillance, took Gunja into custody. During interrogation, she reportedly confessed to her involvement in the crime. The arrest has thrown light on the shocking extent to which personal obsession led to a calculated killing.

Meanwhile, the key conspirator, Jeevan Singh, is on the run. A manhunt has been launched to apprehend him at the earliest.

The brutal murder of Priyanshu so soon after his marriage has cast a pall of gloom over the village, with locals expressing deep outrage and disbelief over the betrayal and tragedy that unfolded in their midst.
