Bantwal: Yakshagana artiste, lecturer Dr Vadiraj Kalluraya chosen for Kalashree Award

Bantwal, July 3: Renowned Yakshagana artiste and Kannada lecturer Dr Vadiraj Kalluraya has been selected for the prestigious Kalashree Award, instituted by the Bantwal Chandrashekar Pai Trust.

Dr Kalluraya, who is associated with the Kateel Yakshagana troupe and currently serves as a Kannada lecturer at Excellent PU College, Moodbidri, has been recognised for his outstanding contributions to both art and education.

Speaking to media, Srinivas Pai, president of the foundation, said that the award is conferred annually to educators who have excelled in cultural and academic fields. This year, the jury unanimously selected Dr Kalluraya for his dual impact in the performing arts and classroom.

The award ceremony will take place on August 2 in Mumbai.
