Queensland, Jul 3: In a heartbreaking incident, an 18-year-old Australian youth, Sonny Blundell, lost his life after suffering a severe head injury while attempting a backflip in his new apartment in the Gold Coast, Queensland. The accident occurred on June 24, shortly after he moved into his new home to start a fresh chapter with his girlfriend.
Originally from Central Coast, New South Wales, Sonny had recently relocated after securing a concreting job — a move his sister, Izabella Cromack-Hay, described as his "greatest accomplishment". “He worked the hardest concreting and making himself known,” she shared.

Sonny was with his close friend Mitchell Bullard when the mishap occurred. He hit his head during the flip and went to bed after complaining of a headache. Later that night, he began vomiting and passed out. His friend discovered him unresponsive the next morning.
He was rushed to the Queensland Hospital ICU, where doctors discovered multiple strokes and a brain bleed. Despite undergoing emergency brain surgery and being placed in a coma, he succumbed to his injuries on June 30.
“Our beautiful Sonny has grown his wings and passed away,” Izabella posted, calling on supporters to help bring Sonny’s body back home. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support the family during this difficult time.
Describing him as “the kindest, loving and nurturing man,” his sister said Sonny had touched the hearts of everyone he met and would be “forever missed and forever loved.”
