Mumbai, Jul 2: In a shocking revelation that has rocked the city’s education circles, a 40-year-old female teacher from a reputed Mumbai school has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 16-year-old male student over the past year.

According to police sources, the accused, an English teacher and mother of two, reportedly developed an inappropriate relationship with the student during preparations for a school dance event in December 2023. The situation escalated in January 2024 when she allegedly began making sexual advances.

When the student resisted, the teacher allegedly enlisted the help of a female friend—who is also now facing charges—to manipulate the boy emotionally. The friend reportedly told the student that such relationships were “common” and that he and the teacher were “made for each other.”

Police allege that the teacher later picked up the student in a sedan and took him to a secluded location where she sexually assaulted him. In the days that followed, she is said to have given him anti-anxiety medication to calm his nerves. Investigators have seized the vehicle used in the alleged crimes.

Further incidents reportedly took place in luxury hotels across South Mumbai and near the airport, where the teacher allegedly coerced the student into sexual acts after providing him with alcohol.

The case came to light when the student’s family noticed behavioral changes and confronted him. Although they initially chose to remain silent, hoping the abuse would end after the boy graduated, they approached the police when the teacher allegedly tried to contact him again through a domestic staff member.

Authorities have registered a case under multiple sections of the POCSO Act, the Indian Penal Code, and the Juvenile Justice Act. The investigation is ongoing.
