Bantwal: National highway cleanliness drive held along Mangaluru–B C Road stretch

Bantwal, June 30: A cleanliness drive was held along the Mangaluru–B C Road stretch of National Highway 75 as part of the campaign Swachhatege Nimmondige Naavu, Nammodige Neevu (We are with you for cleanliness, and you with us), aimed at making the highway free from waste. The drive was conducted from Adyar to Kadegoli via Farangipete.

Organised under the joint aegis of the Dakshina Kannada district administration, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat’s Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), Pudu gram panchayat, Adyar gram panchayat, and Hasiru Dal Mangaluru, the campaign was carried out under the guidance of zilla panchayat deputy secretary Jayalakshmi Rayakode. Waste along the highway margins was cleared during the drive.





Along with the teams from the two gram panchayats, volunteers from the Swachh Bharat Mission (Rural), Hasiru Dal, St Aloysius College Mangaluru, St Agnes College, and School of Social Work Roshni Nilaya’s NSS units actively participated in the drive.

Pudu gram panchayat president Rasheeda Banu, PDO Harish K A, Adyar gram panchayat president Abdul Jaleel, PDO Krishna Naik, Hasiru Dal’s Nagaraj, panchayat staff, and lecturers from various colleges were also present.

As part of the campaign, Hasiru Dal has already formed a Waste Dumping Squad, whose members have been stationed along the highway in the mornings and evenings to create awareness and prevent people from dumping waste. In the coming days, teams from various organisations, self-help groups, and colleges are also expected to join in these awareness efforts.
