Hyderabad, Jun 29: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday reiterated the Centre’s firm resolve to eradicate Maoism from India by March 31, 2026, making it clear that no dialogue would be held with armed left-wing extremists. Addressing a Kisan Sammelan in Nizamabad after inaugurating the National Turmeric Board headquarters, Shah urged Maoists to surrender and integrate into the national mainstream.
“Those who hold guns and kill tribals, policemen, and jawans cannot expect talks,” he declared, while stressing that the door remains open for those willing to renounce violence. “Drop your weapons and surrender. If you don’t, we are committed to ending Naxalism in the country by the deadline,” he asserted.
The Home Minister also launched a sharp attack on the Congress party, accusing it of protecting Maoists and warning that the party might turn Telangana into a safe haven for fleeing extremists. Urging Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to remain vigilant, Shah said Telangana must not be allowed to become a “den for Maoists.”
He highlighted that 2,000 Naxalites have surrendered in the last 18 months and cited the example of over 10,000 individuals in the northeast who laid down arms to join the mainstream. “What will those who defend Naxalites say to the families of our martyred tribals and security personnel?” he asked.
Shah also used the occasion to target both the Congress and BRS, accusing them of rampant corruption. “Earlier, Telangana was the ATM of the KCR family. Now, it has become the ATM of the Congress party,” he said, claiming only a double-engine BJP government can ensure the state's real development.
Touching upon national security, Shah lauded India’s military response to cross-border terrorism under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Referring to Operation Sindoor, he said Indian forces destroyed terrorist bases inside Pakistan in retaliation for attacks like Uri, Pulwama, and Pahalgam.
“Pakistan used to issue nuclear threats, and Congress leaders would remain silent. But PM Modi responded decisively. One night, our brave soldiers crossed the border, destroyed terrorist headquarters, and killed hundreds,” he declared.
Taking a dig at Rahul Gandhi, Shah said, “Even today, Rahul raises questions. But he should just look at the fear on the faces of Pakistanis — that’s his answer.”
The Home Minister concluded by reaffirming the government's commitment to a secure, corruption-free, and Naxal-free India, as Telangana prepares for its next political and security challenges.
