Mangaluru: Decomposed body of unidentified man found in basement near KSRTC bus stand

Mangaluru, Jun 29: The highly decomposed body of an unidentified man, aged between 35 and 40 years, was discovered in the basement of an under-construction commercial building near the KSRTC bus stand, within the Urwa police station limits.

The body was found around 3 pm on June 28 by a worker who had entered the basement to inspect a water supply issue. The area was partially flooded, and the body was seen floating in nearly three feet of water, showing signs of advanced decomposition.

Urwa police, along with the scene of crime officers and forensic experts, visited the spot and carried out preliminary investigations.

A case has been registered at Urwa Police Station under Crime No. 57/2025, invoking Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, for murder.

Efforts are underway to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the cause and circumstances surrounding the death.
