Mangaluru, Jun 28: In memory of late NSUI district vice-president Omshree Poojary, who tragically passed away in a car accident on NH-66 near Jeppinamogaru recently, an educational felicitation programme titled Omshree Prashasti Sanmana Samarambha has been announced. The initiative aims to honour SSLC and PUC students from Mangaluru (Ullal) Assembly Constituency who have secured high marks.
Sahil Manchila, NSUI president of the Mangaluru (Ullal) Assembly Constituency, announced the programme during a press conference held at Ullal Press Club in Sevasoudha, Thokkottu. He invited applications from eligible students who have scored above 80%. The last date for submission is July 5.

Sahil stated that students can submit their applications online, and a WhatsApp link will be sent to applicants. “Already, 300 students have submitted their applications. Those who apply will receive a confirmation call from the organisation to complete the registration process,” he added.
The felicitation ceremony is scheduled to be held by the end of July and will be attended by Speaker U T Khader, along with teachers, students, and parents.
Recalling fond memories, Sahil emotionally shared, “At the last press meet, I sat beside Omshree. It is hard to believe he is gone. We pray for strength to his family and for his soul to rest in peace.”
He further stressed the need for youth to be aware of road safety and avoid late-night driving, which has been a concern in recent accidents.
Sahil mentioned that while the initiative currently covers the Ullal constituency, there are plans to expand it across the district in the coming days.
Also present at the press conference were NSUI Ullal constituency vice-presidents Vishal Lobo and Darshan Kundar, in-charge Safwan Kudroli, U T Fareed Iftikhar, Shreyas Bhatnagar, and Shakeer Ullal.
