Mangaluru, June 27: A young woman lost her life in a tragic road accident near Pavanje on National Highway 66 on Friday, June 27 after she stopped her scooter to wear a raincoat amid heavy rains.

The deceased has been identified as Shruthi Acharya (27), a resident of Bangrakulur. Her father Gopal Acharya (53), who was accompanying her, and a bystander Kairunnisa (52) suffered serious injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Shruthi and her father had halted their two-wheeler by the roadside to wear raincoats when a car speeding from Udupi towards Mangaluru rammed into them. May Shruti Acharya's soul find peace. These days, due to overspeeding and reckless driving, many innocent lives have been lost, yet no one has been punished. No one seems to fear the law anymore.
