Kolkata, Jun 27: In a shocking incident, a student was allegedly raped inside the premises of a reputed law college in Kolkata on the night of June 25, leading to the arrest of three individuals, including two students and a staff member who is also an alumnus of the institution.
The accused have been identified as Manojit Mishra (31), Zaib Ahmed (19), and Pramit Mukhopadhyay alias Pramit Mukherjee (20). According to the FIR, one of the men committed the assault while the others played a role in abetting the crime.

The incident is reported to have occurred between 7:30 pm and 10:50 pm at a specific location within the college campus. Based on the survivor’s complaint, a case was registered and a medical examination was conducted at Calcutta National Medical College.
Police acted swiftly, recording statements from multiple witnesses and securing the crime scene for forensic investigation.
Manojit and Zaib were arrested on June 26 near Talbagan Crossing, around 7:20 pm and 7:35 pm respectively. Their mobile phones were seized as evidence. Pramit was apprehended from his residence in the early hours of June 27, and his phone was also confiscated.
All three accused were produced before the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) court in Alipore, South 24 Parganas, on Thursday and have been remanded to four days of police custody for further probe.
The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken cognisance of the case and has called on the West Bengal Police to ensure a thorough and time-bound investigation to deliver justice to the survivor.
