Ahmedabad, Jun 24: A woman techie working with a multinational firm in Chennai has been arrested for sending bomb threat emails to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad and various institutions across 12 states, allegedly to frame a man who rejected her love.
The accused, Rene Joshilda, a robotics engineer and senior consultant at Deloitte, was arrested by Ahmedabad Cyber Crime police from her Chennai residence after a meticulous digital probe.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sharad Singhal revealed that Joshilda harboured unreciprocated feelings for Divij Prabhakar, and after he married another woman in February, she launched a revenge plot to defame him.
Using fake email IDs—some bearing Prabhakar’s name—VPNs, virtual numbers, and the dark web, she sent at least 21 hoax emails threatening bomb attacks on high-profile targets, including schools, medical colleges, and public places during VIP visits or religious events.
“She is highly educated and tech-savvy, but her actions caused panic among innocent people. A minor slip led us to her location in Chennai,” Singhal said, adding that police recovered both digital and documentary evidence.
Joshilda had targeted the Narendra Modi Stadium, BJ Medical College, and two Ahmedabad schools. Similar threat mails were sent to institutions in Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Delhi, Karnataka, Kerala, Bihar, Telangana, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, and Haryana.
The investigation began after Geneva Liberal School in Ahmedabad received a threatening email on June 3. One message claimed responsibility for an Air India plane crash, linking it to a previous threat ignored by the police.
Police officials said this case has exposed a major cyber abuse module, underlining the dangerous misuse of technology driven by personal vendetta.
