Gonda, Jun 23: In a chilling incident from Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district, a 13-year-old boy was dragged away by a crocodile while bathing buffaloes in the Ghaghara River on Sunday. The victim, identified as Raja Babu alias Nan Yadav, was a resident of Sonauli Mohammedpur village.

Eyewitnesses said the attack occurred suddenly as the boy entered the river. A crocodile appeared and pulled him underwater. A video of the horrifying moment — showing the crocodile and the boy’s head before they vanished — has since gone viral on social media.

Local authorities have launched a search operation, but there is still no trace of the boy. Panic has gripped the village, especially since this marks the second such incident in the area within a month.

Earlier, another villager, Munna Yadav, met a similar fate at the same river spot. His body was recovered several days after the attack. Locals say crocodile sightings along the riverbank have increased this summer, creating a persistent atmosphere of fear in the region.

Officials have urged residents to avoid venturing near the riverbanks and are working to prevent further tragedies.
