Shivamogga, Jun 21: A new Kannada liturgical hymn titled ‘Pavitra Kutumba’ was officially released on June 21 in Shivamogga by the musical ensemble Spiritus. The hymn, which highlights the sacredness of family life within the Christian tradition, is a devotional composition intended to inspire spiritual reflection among listeners.
The Imprimatur was given by Dr Francis Serrao SJ, the bishop of Shimoga. Lyrics and music were composed by Fr Alphonse Nelson D'Souza. The vocals were led by Shwetha Prabhu & Fr Nelson D'Souza. Music arrangement, direction and harmonisation was done by Cajetan Dias and was recorded at Eden Diji Studio, Bengaluru. The mixing & mastering was done by Johnson Durai at Elim Multitech Studio, Bangaluru. The videography & editing was done by Br Jeevan SJ.


The release of Pavitra Kutumba marks a meaningful addition to contemporary Kannada liturgical music, emphasizing unity, prayer, and the domestic church as a vital space of faith and grace. The hymn aims to inspire spiritual reflection within families, celebrating the sacredness of domestic life in the Christian faith.
Fr Alphonse Nelson D’Souza, ordained in 2016, serving as the parish priest of Nirmala Mathe Church, Harapanahalli, and also serves as manager and correspondent of Nirmala Schools in the diocese of Shimoga. Known for his passion for sacred music, he continues to compose simple, spiritually uplifting hymns for the faithful.
