New Delhi, Jun 19: Former Congress president and senior party leader Sonia Gandhi is reportedly responding well to treatment, according to an official update from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. The 77-year-old leader, who has been undergoing treatment for a stomach infection since June 15, continues to remain under close medical supervision.

Dr Ajay Swaroop, chairman of the hospital’s board of management, confirmed that Gandhi’s health condition is stable and improving. “Sonia Gandhi is responding positively to treatment. Her health is stable, and a specific diet plan has been introduced today as part of her ongoing care,” Dr Swaroop was quoted as saying by ANI.

A team of senior doctors, including Dr S Nundy and Dr Amitabh Yadav, is monitoring her progress closely. The hospital said that her discharge date will be determined based on how she responds further to the treatment.

Earlier this month, on June 7, Sonia Gandhi had also undergone a routine check-up at the Indira Gandhi Medical College in Shimla, following minor health concerns.

Congress leaders and supporters have expressed relief over her improving condition and are hopeful for her speedy recovery.
