New Delhi, Jun 18: British pop icon Ed Sheeran, known for his global musical hits, has once again struck a chord with Indian fans by releasing a behind-the-scenes (BTS) video of his latest viral single Sapphire, which was shot entirely in India over three weeks. The song, a vibrant collaboration with Indian singing sensation Arijit Singh, has taken social media by storm for its unique fusion of western melodies and Indian rhythms.

In a heartfelt post on Instagram, Sheeran shared glimpses from the making of the music video while seated at his favourite Indian restaurant, Gymkhana. He captioned the post: "I sat down at my favourite Indian restaurant Gymkhana to talk about the making of the music video of Sapphire with @liampethickphoto and @nicminns who I did the video with. The making shows all the BTS and what we went through to get each shot. We filmed the whole thing over 3 weeks which must be my longest video shoot in history, but boy was it worth it. I love you India, full video on YouTube now."

The song Sapphire, the third single from Sheeran’s upcoming album Play, quickly went viral thanks to its energetic beats and seamless Indo-western vibe. Adding to the excitement, the music video features a surprise appearance by Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and even sees Sheeran singing in Punjabi — a move that delighted his desi fanbase.

Ed Sheeran has long expressed his fondness for India, and his latest project reflects not just a musical connection but a deep cultural appreciation. Fans from both sides of the globe have flooded the internet with love for the track, praising the cross-cultural harmony and the stunning visuals that celebrate India’s diverse landscape.

With the BTS video now live on YouTube, fans get an up-close look at the dedication, travel, and camaraderie that went into crafting the visual masterpiece that Sapphire has become.
