Lad, Raje power Maratha Royals into T20 Mumbai final

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Jun 10: A match-winning unbeaten knock by skipper Siddesh Lad and a sensational five-wicket haul by Rohan Raje powered Mumbai South Central Maratha Royals into the final of the T20 Mumbai League 2025 with a commanding 8-wicket victory over Eagle Thane Strikers at the Wankhede Stadium on Tuesday.

On a lively pitch offering movement and bounce, Raje tore through the Strikers’ batting lineup with figures of 5/40 — the first five-for of this season and only the fourth in league history — to restrict the opposition to 131/8 in 20 overs.

The Strikers, opting to bat first, were rattled early as Raje and spinner Aditya Dhumal left them reeling at 57/4 in 10 overs. A brief recovery came via a 43-run stand between Sairaj Patil (41) and skipper Atharva Ankolekar (34 not out), but Raje returned to dismantle the tail, including three wickets in quick succession.

Chasing 132, the Royals lost opener Sahil Jadhav early, but Siddesh Lad steadied the innings with a fluent 74 not out off 52 balls, laced with nine boundaries and a six. He added 48 with Chinmay Sutar (19) and an unbeaten 55-run stand with Sachin Yadav (19 not out) to take the Royals home with 13 balls to spare.

The Maratha Royals will now face the final challenge at the Wankhede Stadium on June 12.

Brief scores:

Eagle Thane Strikers 131/8 in 20 overs (Sairaj Patil 41, Atharva Ankolekar 34*; Rohan Raje 5/40)
lost to
MSC Maratha Royals 134/2 in 17.5 overs (Siddesh Lad 74*, Sachin Yadav 19*)
by 8 wickets.
