Indore, Jun 10: In the aftermath of the shocking murder of Indore resident Raja Raghuvanshi during his honeymoon in Meghalaya, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Tuesday expressed deep anguish and called for greater caution while finalising marriage decisions.
Terming the incident ‘painful,’ CM Yadav said the case serves as a harsh lesson to society. “The Sonam–Raja Raghuvanshi case is not only a heartbreaking tragedy but also a warning. Families must pay careful attention when two households unite through marriage,” he said, while also stressing the need to reconsider letting young couples travel far so soon after marriage.

The incident, which has sent shockwaves across the country, involves Raja Raghuvanshi allegedly being murdered by contract killers during his honeymoon, reportedly at the behest of his wife Sonam Raghuvanshi and her alleged lover Raj Kushwaha.
Four men – Akash Rajput, Vishal Singh Chauhan, Raj Singh Kushwaha, and Anand – have been arrested in the case. Indore’s Additional DCP (Crime), Rajesh Dandotiya, confirmed that transit remand for all accused has been secured, and they will be taken to Meghalaya by Shillong Police for further investigation.
Sonam Raghuvanshi, who had gone missing after the murder, was located near a dhaba on the Varanasi–Ghazipur road on Monday. She was taken into custody by Uttar Pradesh Police and is currently undergoing a medical check-up.
The couple had gone missing on May 23, and Raja’s body was recovered from East Khasi Hills on June 2, sparking fears of abduction and triggering a massive search operation.
CM Yadav appealed to the public to treat the incident as a wake-up call and emphasized the importance of evaluating relationships with sensitivity and due diligence.
