Mangaluru, Jun 9: Inaugural service of Sunday Catechism year 2025-26 was held at St Sebastian Church Permannur with a Holy Eucharistic celebration on Sunday, June 8.

The celebration commenced with the graceful Entrance Procession which included student representatives, A parent representative, Catechism teachers, PPC vice president Arun D’Souza, parish priest Fr Cyprian Pinto.

The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by Fr Cyprian Pinto, who also led the special ceremonial distribution of the Holy Bible to the teachers signifying the sacred responsibility entrusted to them in nurturing the faith of young minds. Catechism books were then handed over to the children, symbolizing the beginning of their Spiritual journey and learning in the Faith.

A unique and heartwarming act followed, where the vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council, together with the parents, watered a plant. This act served as a powerful symbol of hope, reflecting the joint effort of the family and the parish in nurturing the seeds of faith within the children. Just as a plant grows strong and vibrant when well cared for, so too will the faith and hope of the children flourish.

Following the Homily, Fr Cyprian Pinto, the parish priest, administered a solemn pledge to the Catechism teachers, commissioning them for the noble mission of faith formation in the Parish community. The Liturgy was beautifully conducted by the teachers. The inauguration marked not just the beginning of a new Catechetical year, but also a spiritually enriching experience that brought together students, parents, and teachers to commence another fruitful year.
