Mangaluru, Jun 8: Omzoor Parish joyfully inaugurated the Sunday Catechism Year 2025–26 on Sunday, June 8, during the 10:00 am Holy Mass, embracing the theme ‘Hope will not let us down.’ This uplifting theme reflects the enduring Christian promise that God’s love and grace sustain us through challenges, leading to joy, peace, and spiritual renewal.

Organized by the Commission for Catechetics, the inauguration commenced with a vibrant and reverent procession. Representatives from each Catechism class walked alongside their parents and teachers, joined by altar servers, parish priest Fr William Menezes, and resident priest Fr Victor D’Souza. They were accompanied by key parish leaders: vice president Arther D’Souza, secretary Dafney Lewis, Ayog coordinator Elroy Saldanha, and Catechism coordinator Sr Sabina lobo.

A highlight of the event was the symbolic inauguration. Fr William Menezes distributed Catechism books to the students and Bibles to the teachers, emphasizing the vital role of scripture in nurturing faith. He then watered a plant, symbolizing the spiritual growth and nourishment that catechetical formation offers the young faithful.

During the Holy Mass, Fr Victor D’Souza led all Catechism teachers in a solemn oath, inviting them to renew their dedication to the sacred ministry of teaching the faith. In a moving display of commitment, the teachers reaffirmed their vows to guide children in their spiritual journey with devotion and integrity.

Fr William Menezes extended heartfelt blessings for a grace-filled and fruitful catechetical year, encouraging everyone to stay united in hope and trust in God’s enduring presence. The Mass liturgy was prayerfully led by the Catechism teachers, reflecting their deep commitment to their mission.

Enhancing the spiritual ambiance, the children’s choir rendered hymns with great joy and harmony, lifting the congregation in praise and worship.

The entire programme was smoothly and gracefully compered by Leena D’Souza, ensuring a prayerful and organized flow of events.

As the Catechism Year 2025–26 begins, Omzoor parish stands united in hope, faith, and renewal, rooted firmly in the promise of God’s unchanging love.
