Mangaluru: Renowned Yakshagana artiste Mundaje Sadashiva Shetty passes away

Mangaluru, Jun 8: Celebrated Tenkutittu Yakshagana artiste and Vesha (disguise) performer Mundaje Sadashiva Shetty (67) passed away on June 7 night following a cardiac arrest.

Shetty had served as a vesha artiste with the famed Kateel Mela for the past 20 years and also held the role of third prabandhaka (manager). He had performed a variety of roles in both Tulu and Kannada prasangas with the Dharmasthala, Karnataka, and Sasihitlu Melas, earning a reputation for his versatile portrayals.

Arrangements have been made for the public to pay their final respects at the Kadri Mallikatte grounds on Sunday, June 8 at 1 pm. The last rites are scheduled to take place at the Kadri crematorium at 1:15 pm.

Sources said Shetty had recently undergone angioplasty treatment for a heart-related ailment and had returned home after recovery. He is survived by his wife, two sons including Daijiworld TV anchor Chethan Kumar Shetty, and a daughter.
