Jaipur, Jun 7: A shocking incident has surfaced at ESIC Medical College, where a 32-year-old woman alleged that she was raped by a nursing staffer inside the surgical medical ICU. The accused, identified as 30-year-old Subhash Ghithala, has been barred from the hospital premises, and a probe has been launched.

The woman was admitted on June 2 for a tubectomy and shifted to the ICU after her surgery on June 4. According to her husband’s complaint, hospital guards and a staffer cited injection side effects to call him inside briefly around midnight, then asked him to leave. On June 5, after regaining consciousness, the woman informed him that a male staffer had drawn the curtains and sexually assaulted her during the night.

Following the revelation, the husband approached the police, and an FIR was immediately registered. The woman also reported the incident to her attending doctor, Dr Deepika, who confronted the accused in front of witnesses. According to the hospital, Ghithala confessed during the exchange.

Police confirmed that Ghithala has been booked for molestation and rape. A hospital-level inquiry committee has been formed, and its findings are expected by Saturday evening. The administration has also issued notices to the on-duty doctor and other staff members for their written responses.
