Pakistani National in Goa moves SC after centre orders exit

Panaji, Jun 6: A Pakistani national residing in Goa since 2016 on a long-term visa has approached the Supreme Court, challenging the Centre’s recent move to revoke visas of Pakistani citizens following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack in April that claimed 26 lives.

Following the Centre’s directive, the Goa government identified 17 Pakistani nationals on long-term visas and ordered three of them, including the petitioner, to leave the state and the country.

The plea was mentioned on Thursday before a bench of Justices Sanjay Karol and Satish Chandra Sharma, with the petitioner’s counsel seeking urgent listing. “This is a matter of a Pakistani national residing in Goa since 2016 on long-term visa. After the Pahalgam attack, there is a notification issued by the Government of India,” the counsel argued.

The bench, however, responded curtly, telling the petitioner, “You go back,” while agreeing to hear the matter in due course.
