San Antonio, Jun 4: Hollywood actor Jonathan Joss, best known for his role as Chief Ken Hotate in Parks and Recreation, was fatally shot in San Antonio on Sunday, June 1. He was 59.
Actress Cynthia Nixon mourned his death and demanded answers, calling it a potential hate crime. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Nixon described Joss as a “wonderfully talented actor and musician” and claimed he and his husband had been harassed by homophobic neighbors, who allegedly burned down their home.

Joss's husband, Tristan Kern de Gonzales, said the couple was retrieving mail at their old residence when a neighbor confronted them with homophobic slurs and shot Joss. “Jonathan died protecting the person he loved,” Nixon wrote, adding that he saved his husband by pushing him out of harm's way.
Despite these claims, the San Antonio Police Department stated there is currently “no evidence” linking the murder to a hate crime but assured that the case remains open and under investigation.
