Moodbidri, Jun 3: “The Konkani language and its literature remain vibrant and deeply rooted among the people of this region. This land has produced numerous distinguished Konkani poets and literary figures. Training today’s youth in Konkani literature is indeed a commendable and timely initiative," said Fr Ronald D’Souza, parish priest of Gantalkatte, while inaugurating a Konkani literary training programme held at the Gantalkatte parish church hall.
The event was jointly organized by Raknno, the Mangalore diocesan Konkani weekly, and the Konkani Writers’ association, Karnataka, with the support of Rang-Tarang, a local cultural organization.

The training session saw enthusiastic participation from nearly 140 individuals, predominantly youth, who were guided by eminent resource persons including Dolphy Lobo (popularly known as Dolphy Casia), Fr Rupesh Madtha (editor of Raknno), Dr Edward Nazareth, Andrew D’Cunha, and Lavie Ganjimatt. Each speaker shared insights into various aspects of Konkani literature, enriching the participants with knowledge and inspiration.
Richard Moras, convenor of the Konkani Writers’ Association, welcomed the gathering, while Francis D’Cunha, a member of the Raknno editorial board, delivered the vote of thanks. The event was gracefully compered by Henry Mascarenhas.
The programme was a significant step toward nurturing and promoting Konkani literature among the younger generation, reaffirming the cultural richness and literary heritage of the Konkani-speaking community.
