Mangaluru: Fr Rohan D’Almeida SJ takes charge as principal of St Aloysius Gonzaga School

Media Release

Mangaluru, June 2: The inaugural ceremony of the new academic year was held on Monday, June 2, at St Aloysius Gonzaga School, Mangaluru, in a formal function for Classes I to XII.

A highlight of this academic year is the appointment of Fr Rohan D’Almeida SJ as the new principal of St Aloysius Gonzaga School.

A visionary educationist and experienced Jesuit leader, Fr Almeida takes over the reins from Fr Melwyn Lobo SJ, bringing with him a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to holistic education.

Ivan D’Souza, MLC, graced the occasion and extended his best wishes to Fr Rohan on his new role. Addressing the students, Fr Rohan D’Almeida urged them to be disciplined, responsible, and open to learning, reminding them that “a positive attitude leads to greater heights.”

The traditional lighting of the lamp and an inter-religious prayer service set a reverent and uplifting tone for the occasion.

Newly admitted students introduced themselves on stage, marking their entry into the school community. A symbolic handover followed, wherein students transitioned from their class teachers of the previous year (2024–25) to their new class teachers for 2025–26. Vice-principals Laurel D’Souza and Aparna Suresh were present.

The school looks forward to a year filled with meaningful learning, creativity, and growth under the new leadership.
