Damodar Naik’s Delhi visit delays meeting with minister Govind Gaude

Panaji, May 31: The much-anticipated Delhi trip of BJP President Damodar Naik, now extended till Sunday, has lowered expectations of an imminent cabinet reshuffle in the Pramod Sawant government.

Naik’s meeting with Minister Govind Gaude, postponed due to his late-night travel, has fueled uncertainty over Gaude’s future in the cabinet following Gaude’s recent “corruption” allegations against the Department of Tribal Welfare.

Naik told The Goan that he is in Delhi primarily to attend a party event but will discuss state political developments with the party high command. He confirmed plans to meet Gaude on Monday after returning.

Naik emphasized that any decisions will be made only after hearing Gaude’s explanation.

Last week, during the 'Prerna Din' function, Gaude alleged contractors’ files were cleared in exchange for bribes and demanded clarity from the Tribal Welfare department. Facing backlash, Gaude later retracted any direct blame on the Chief Minister, stating his remarks targeted administrative issues within the department.

He also accused the media of misrepresenting his comments.
