Mumbai, May 30: The Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) undertakes a major revamp of its bus network, announcing changes to 30 routes across the city effective June 1, 2025. The upgrade will include introduction of new air-conditioned (AC) buses, route renumbering, extensions, and rerouting aimed at enhancing connectivity with key metro stations, railway hubs, and busy commercial centers.

As part of this initiative to ease peak hour traffic, several routes will be converted into ring routes for smoother flow.

• Route 8 will be renamed A-8 and upgraded with AC buses, running between Mantralaya and Shivaji Nagar.

• Route 44 will become A-44 with AC services, connecting Kala Chowki to Worli Depot.

• Route 125 will be rebranded A-125 and converted to AC buses, maintaining its path via Mohammed Ali Road.

• Route 241 will be upgraded to AC buses and renamed A-241.

• Route 456 will no longer be an AC service; it will be converted to a general circular service, losing the “A-456” tag.

The BEST authorities urge commuters to check updated schedules and route maps to plan their travel accordingly. This move is expected to improve last-mile connectivity and provide more comfortable commuting options for Mumbai’s busy passengers.
