Mumbai, May 30: Sadashiv Amarapurkar, a legendary Bollywood villain known for his chilling roles in films like Sadak and Ardh Satya, passed away in 2014 leaving behind an unforgettable screen presence. But his daughter, Rima Amarapurkar, has chosen a unique way to honour her father’s legacy—not by stepping into the limelight as an actor, but by carving her own niche behind the camera and in the digital world.

Growing up in a film family—her parents Sadashiv and Sunanda Karmarkar were deeply involved in cinema—Rima didn’t pursue acting. Instead, she found her passion in storytelling, beginning her career as an assistant director on Bollywood films like Baabul (2006) and the comedy Dhamaal (2007). She also directed a Marathi film, Ara Ara Aaba Aata Teri Thamba (2008), showcasing her directorial flair.

After her father’s demise, Rima shifted focus to family and embraced new creative avenues. She ventured into digital media, proving that the Amarapurkar legacy could evolve with changing times.

Today, Rima runs a popular YouTube podcast channel called MU. PO. Manoranjan, boasting over 13,500 subscribers. Her channel features engaging conversations with actors, filmmakers, and creatives from the Hindi and Marathi film industries. With a blend of deep film knowledge and a warm, refreshing style, Rima has built a new legacy—one that shines differently from her father’s dark, intense roles but equally commands respect.

On Instagram, she describes herself as a “Film director, producer, podcaster, storyteller,” a testament to her multifaceted talents and commitment to storytelling in all its forms.

Rima Amarapurkar’s journey beautifully bridges the golden era of Bollywood villains and the dynamic world of digital content creation, proving that legacies can be honoured in diverse and inspiring ways.
