Amritsar, May 28: In a deeply unsettling incident, a three-and-a-half-year-old girl was injured by a stray bullet while being taken to a tuition class by her father in Fateh Singh Colony, Amritsar, on Tuesday. The child, struck in the leg, was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital as she bled profusely.
According to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Gagandeep Singh, the girl was fortunate to survive the incident and is now stable following medical intervention. Doctors managed to extract the bullet and confirmed that her condition is out of danger.

Authorities are still uncertain about who fired the bullet, and no arrests have been made so far. ACP Singh informed that multiple police teams have launched a door-to-door investigation in the locality, questioning residents — particularly those in possession of licensed firearms.
The incident has sparked concern among residents of the usually quiet neighbourhood. The police are examining the possibility of the bullet being fired accidentally or during celebratory gunfire and are also checking CCTV footage from the vicinity.
The ACP assured that all angles are being thoroughly investigated and promised strict action against the person responsible for the reckless firing. The incident has once again raised alarms over the misuse of firearms in residential areas and the urgent need for stricter enforcement of gun safety norms.
The young victim, who was simply on her way to learn, now bears a painful reminder of the dangers posed by unchecked gun use in civilian zones.
