Mumbai: Billawar Jagruti Balaga Celebrates Decennial

Mumbai, Jan 24: The metro-based Billawar Jagruti Balaga organized its decennial celebrations at K C College auditorium, Churchgate, on Sunday January 22.

Dubai-based TPV Technology Limited deputy general manager Suchit Kumar was the chief guest who released the decennial commemoration bulletin / souvenir of Balaga.

Speaking on the occasion, Suchit Kumar said that he has been associated with the Balaga for over a decade.  “It has been engaged in helping the poor students and in upliftment of the community.  In an era of globalization, the Balaga had to create awareness among the youth by giving them 50 percent of posts in various committees.  This will energize the Balaga in its social welfare and humanitarian tasks,” he said.
Balaga founder president Sooru C Karkera inaugurated the programme.

Balaga president Suresh S Poojary and office-bearers felicitated veteran social activist D U Salian and Gadinada Dwani, and state award recipient Dr Karunakar Bangera and his wife Chandraprabha.

Dr Bangera, acknowledging his felicitation, said that Billwa community settled in the metro is known to take difficulties as challenges for their progress, and urged the community to give prominence to youth to pass on the hierarchy of the Balaga.

Sooru C Karkera said that communities play a key role in national development. 

Balaga vice-presidents K Bhojaraj and N T Poojary, honorary chief secretary D K Anchan, honorary treasurer G D Karkera, women’s wing president Sharada S Karkera, vice-president Santoshi S Poojary, Balaga bulletin ‘Gurutu’ honorary editor Babu Shiva Poojary, cultural committee president Bhaskar Karnire, and secretary Satish Amin were present on the dais.

Suchit Kumar felicitated Purushottam S Kotian, Bhaskar Karnire, Shailaja Madusudhan, Mumbai News editor Hemachandra Karkera, and religious leader Ramesh Poojary Nerul, who have collected contributions for publishing the souvenir.

A documentary on the Balaga’s decade of service was screened on the same occasion. ‘Bhasmasura Mohini’ dance recital and variety classical dances were staged by the disciples of Nrutya Vidhyanilaya, Bhandup, directed by renowned artiste Shailaja Madusudhan.

The Balaga honorary chief secretary D K Anchan welcomed the gathering.  J M Kotian and Bhaskar Karnire read the felicitation letter.  K M Kotian Chitrapu proposed the vote of thanks.  Keshav Kotian compered the programme.
