Patna, May 17: In a chilling case from the Shri Krishnapuri area of Patna, police on Thursday recovered the partially-burnt body of a 28-year-old woman from her rented flat, with her throat slit, sparking shock and outrage in the locality.

The deceased, originally from Muzaffarpur district, was living alone in the city. Superintendent of Police (Central Patna) Sweety Sahrawat confirmed that an LPG cylinder was found near the body, indicating an attempt to destroy evidence.

“Forensic experts have collected vital clues from the scene. CCTV footage showed one Suraj Kumar as the last person to visit her flat. He was detained and has confessed to the crime during interrogation,” SP Sahrawat told the media.

The accused, who recently got married, was reportedly known to the victim since childhood. Police said an argument between the two led to the brutal killing. He allegedly slit her throat with a pair of scissors and tried to burn the body using the LPG cylinder before fleeing the spot.

An FIR has been registered, and further investigations are underway.
