Mangaluru, May 17: Train services on the Bengaluru–Mangaluru and Bengaluru–Karwar routes will be significantly impacted over the next five months as the South Western Railway has announced the cancellation of six trains due to infrastructure work.
According to the railway authorities, safety and electrification works will be undertaken on the Sakleshpur–Subrahmanya Road stretch from June 1 to November 1.
The Yeshwantpur–Mangaluru Junction Weekly Express (Train No. 16539), which operates on Saturdays, will be cancelled from May 31 to November 1. The Mangaluru Junction–Yeshwantpur Weekly Express (Train No. 16540), running on Sundays, will be cancelled from June 1 to November 2. The Yeshwantpur–Mangaluru Junction Tri-Weekly Express (Train No. 16575), operating on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, will be cancelled from June 1 to October 30. Similarly, the Mangaluru–Yeshwantpur Tri-Weekly Express (Train No. 16576), running on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, will be cancelled from June 2 to October 31. The Yeshwantpur–Karwar Tri-Weekly Express (Train No. 16515), operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, will also be cancelled during the same period. The Karwar–Yeshwantpur Tri-Weekly Express (Train No. 16516), which runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, will be cancelled from June 3 to November 1.

Trains like the Gomateshwara Express, Karwar Express, and Mangaluru Central Weekly Special Express will also remain cancelled for the next five months.
Out of the 12 trains operating between Bengaluru and the coastal region, 6 have been completely cancelled. With this major disruption in services, passengers are advised to plan accordingly and consider alternative routes for their travel needs.
