Panaji, May 15: More than 350 wellness, tourism, and hospitality professionals gathered at the Radisson Blu Resort in Cavelossim to participate in the Yoga Mahotsav organised by the Federation of Hotel and Restaurant Associations of India (FHRAI). The event, held with support from the Ministry of AYUSH and the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, marked the 42nd day of the 100-day countdown to the International Day of Yoga.
The programme featured a live demonstration of the Common Yoga Protocol led by Dr Joy Pereira, a Master Yoga Trainer accredited by the Ministry of AYUSH, who detailed the benefits of various yoga practices which were then performed by the participants.
Welcoming the attendees, Vishal Pathak, Corporate General Manager of Radisson Blu Resort, said, “Goa’s natural beauty makes it an ideal destination for wellness and yoga tourism.”
Deepak Narvekar, Deputy General Manager – Marketing (Hotels) and PRO of Goa Tourism Development Corporation, highlighted Goa’s growing focus on promoting natural locations beyond beaches. “Under the leadership of Hon’ble Minister for Tourism Shri Rohan A. Khaunte, Goa is encouraging regenerative and hinterland tourism with a strong emphasis on yoga and wellness,” he said.
Dr Sneha Bhagwat, CEO and Executive Director of the Goa College of Physiotherapy, Naturopathy and Yogic Sciences, emphasised that yoga transcends physical exercise, describing it as a lifestyle that nurtures mental clarity and emotional balance.
Dr Mickey Mehta, CMD of Healdhee Pvt Ltd, spoke on Goa’s rising interest in wellness tourism, calling yoga “an eternal science” that boosts immunity and consciousness.
In her concluding remarks, Trupti Pawar, Secretary General of the Hotel and Restaurant Association of Western India (HRAWI), noted, “The hospitality industry is evolving into a wellness hub, with yoga at its core. We are grateful to the Ministry of AYUSH and the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga for their continued support.”
The event was moderated by Payal Swami, Assistant Secretary General of FHRAI, and highlighted India’s leadership role in promoting yoga and holistic well-being globally.
