Vasco, May 7: In a major security breach at the Goa International Airport in Dabolim, police on Tuesday booked a 29-year-old man from South Goa for allegedly entering the airport premises using forged flight tickets.

The accused, identified as Manuel Kavin D’Souza, hailing from Sancoale village, reportedly used fake tickets of Air India and Qatar Airways to gain entry into the airport between 2:15 pm and 3:00 pm.

Security Breach

A senior police officer said D’Souza had successfully cleared the initial security check conducted by the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) by showing the counterfeit tickets. However, the fraud was detected when he presented the same tickets at the airline counter inside the terminal.

He was found carrying:

• A Goa-Mumbai Air India ticket,

• A Mumbai-Doha Qatar Airways ticket, and

• A Doha-Barcelona Qatar Airways ticket.

Booked Under Cheating and Forgery

The Dabolim Airport Police registered a case against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) related to cheating and forgery.
During preliminary interrogation, D’Souza reportedly told investigators that he had received the fake tickets from an "agency", raising concerns about possible involvement of a larger racket.

Investigation Underway

Authorities are now probing:

• The source of the forged tickets,

• Whether the agency in question operates locally or through online channels,

• And if there have been similar prior attempts to enter the airport using fake documentation.

Security at Indian airports remains under tight scrutiny, and such incidents raise alarm about potential vulnerabilities in the verification process.
