Hyderabad, May 4: Justice Maturi Girija Priyadarsini, sitting judge of the Telangana High Court, passed away on Sunday morning in Hyderabad after a brief illness. She was 61.
Her mortal remains are kept at her residence in Hafeezpet, and the last rites will be performed on Monday at Mahaprasthanam, Jubilee Hills.

Appointed to the High Court in March 2022, Justice Priyadarsini was 16th in seniority and was scheduled to retire next year. Born to Maturi Appa Rao and Nagaratnam, she was married to Dr. K. Vijay Kumar and was mother to two sons, Nikhil and Akhil.
A multi-disciplinary academic, she held postgraduate degrees in Sociology, Public Administration, and Political Science, and earned her law degree from N B M Law College, Visakhapatnam, before completing her LLM in Labour and Industrial Law from Andhra University.
Enrolled in the Bar Council of Andhra Pradesh in 1995, she actively practised law in Visakhapatnam, handling a range of civil, criminal, labour, and matrimonial cases, including pro-bono work. She entered judicial service as an Additional District Judge in 2008 and served across the erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh before her elevation to the High Court.
Acting chief justice Sujoy Paul, fellow judges, and members of the legal fraternity have expressed deep condolences over her demise.
