MLA Sunil Kumar blames Congress, demands NIA probe in Suhas Shetty murder case

Udupi, May 2: Reacting strongly to the recent murder of Suhas Shetty, BJP MLA Sunil Kumar has held the Congress party responsible for what he termed as 'appeasement politics' that has contributed to such violent incidents.

Speaking to the media, Sunil Kumar said, “The Congress party continues to use the Muslim community as a focal point for its political gains. This attitude has emboldened anti-social elements. If the state government had taken strict action during earlier incidents in Shivamogga, Mandya, and other places, this unfortunate incident could have been avoided.”

Sunil Kumar further alleged that the murder of Suhas Shetty was pre-planned and that the police had prior knowledge. “Even before the murder took place, a message regarding the planned killing was circulated in a Muslim WhatsApp group. The police were aware of this. Why didn’t they act in advance to prevent it?” he questioned.

Raising concerns over the scale of the crime, he added, “This is not just the act of 7-8 assailants. There are hundreds behind them. It is shocking to see that even Muslim women helped the accused escape, as seen in the video that is being circulated.”

Sunil Kumar demanded that the investigation be handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), stressing the need for a thorough and impartial probe. “We stand firmly with the family of Suhas Shetty and demand justice,” he concluded.
