New York, Apr 4 : MI New York has announced a stellar line-up of international and domestic players ahead of the much-anticipated Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 season, scheduled to commence on June 13 in the United States.
The squad sees the inclusion of renowned stars like South African opener Quinton de Kock, all-rounder George Linde, Afghanistan’s Naveen-ul-Haq and Azmatullah Omarzai, and New Zealand captain Michael Bracewell.
These new recruits join a formidable set of overseas retained players comprising Nicholas Pooran, Kieron Pollard, Rashid Khan, and Trent Boult. The domestic contingent includes Monank Patel, Nosthush Kenjige, Heath Richards, Ehsan Adil, Rushil Ugarkar, Sunny Patel, and the 2025 draft picks Agni Chopra, Kunwarjeet Singh, Sharad Lumba, and Tajinder Singh.
Quinton de Kock, who previously played for Mumbai Indians in the IPL from 2019 to 2021, is no stranger to the MI franchise, having lifted two titles with them. George Linde, a crucial part of MI Cape Town’s 2025 title-winning campaign in the SA20, continues his association with the MI family.
Azmatullah Omarzai, Afghanistan’s ODI Cricketer of the Year for 2024, will reunite with former teammates Rashid Khan, Trent Boult, and George Linde, bringing his rich experience of contributing to MI Cape Town’s 2025 triumph.
Naveen-ul-Haq and Michael Bracewell are expected to boost MI New York’s chances of clinching their second MLC title in three years. However, the team released prominent players like Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Dewald Brevis, Tim David, and Romario Shepherd before the 2025 season.
Despite being defending champions in the previous season, MI New York’s title defence was shattered by Texas Super Kings, who defeated them comprehensively by nine wickets in the eliminator clash.
