Mumbai, Jan 17: The departure of Air India flight No AI 679, which was scheduled to leave for Mangalore at 11.05 am on Tuesday January 17 from the airport here, was put off at the last minute.

The aircraft, which had left its parking slot and moved to the main runway, slowed down when it was about to take off. It was then announced that the aircraft was facing engine problems. The aircraft was moved back, and technicians began to attend to the problem. The passengers continue to be seated in the aircraft.

The officials informed the passengers at around 12.45 pm that they will make alternative arrangements for taking them to Mangalore, if the problem does not get solved within an hour or so.
