Probe Against Bedi Still On, Police Tell Court

New Delhi, Jan 8 (IANS): A Delhi court was informed by police that the probe into alleged misappropriation of funds by Team Anna member and former police official Kiran Bedi was still going on.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Bansal was informed in a status report, made available Saturday, that "the investigation is in progress and efforts are being made to finalise the investigation at the earliest."

The police report said the investigation revealed that Microsoft had provided Rs.48 lakh to Bedi's NGO, India Vision Foundation (IVF), besides 62 laptops and two desktop computers for promoting computer education.

The court Nov 26, 2011 passed an order to lodge a first information report (FIR) against Bedi for lapses involving air tickets.

"Fly Well Travels has been located and notice under section 191 CrPC (code of criminal procedure) has been served upon it to produce the details of air tickets procured by Bedi either in her individual capacity or as chief of IVF," the report said.

Police told the court that the travel firm was also asked to provide details of tickets purchased, using the concession offered to gallantry medal winners.

"They have sought some time to prove the details," police said.
