Dubai, Jan 4: It was a glorious moment for the members of KaDaM (Kundapur Devadiga Mitra) when they congregated to commemorate their first anniversary recently.
The programme started at 12 am with the lighting of the lamp by Mrs and Mr Dinesh, Mrs and Mr Sheena Devadiga, Mrsand Mr Sridhar Devadiga, Mrs and Mr Ravi Devadiga Mrs and Mr Pramod Devadiga followed by the prayer song recited by Shriti, Yashoda and Asha.
Master of ceremony Nithyananda Beskoor welcomed the gathering. After welcoming the members, sponsors and the media he elucidated the importance of being a member and urged the community members to join the team. Narayan Devadiga Badakere in his speech gave every detail of how KaDaM functioned from the date of inception and activities. As per the records “KaDaM” has collected Rs 5 lac as an education fund to help the needy students back home, and Rs 2 lac was distributed among the hospitalized patients as medical expenses.
The cultural programme started with a spellbinding Kuchipudinrathya by Kumari Maunika. Pramod enthralled the audience with his melodious voice, singing great numbers from Hindi and Kannada films. Yuvraj too thrilled the audience with his ever charming voice and kept the audience entertained.
The ladies trio Vani, Shrithi and Asha equally contributed by singing great numbers from Hindi and Kannada cinemas.
Chintu, Varsha, Master Manish, Rujutha, Vaisnavi, Bebein and Dance group of KaDaMkept the audience delightedby their superb dance performances of Hindi cinema.
There were lots of fun, entertainment, Skit from Monappa and Party and melody throughout the day.
Spot games and games for all ages were conducted by Nithyananda Beskoor assisted by Mrs Kiran Beskoor. Prizes were given to all the winners and raffle draw was also part of the day.
KaDaM ‘Sadaka Prashasti’ conferred on B G Mohandas
KaDaM's maiden 'Devadiga Sadaka Prashasti' was presented to B G Mohandas for his achievement towards community and social service. Devadiga Sadaka prashasti is given to individuals to recognize their work in social service or any other field. This time the core committee proudly selected B G Mohandas for his achievement in different fields and for his service to Gulf Kannadigas.
B G Mohandas was the president of Karnataka Sanga (1989) and he is the founder member of Devadiga Sangha Dubai. He hosted a number of websites mainly Gulfkannadiga.com, Devadiga.com, karnataksanga.com and kolluru.com and so on. He has won a number of awards for his social service. He was awarded as an outstanding Alumni of Mahe, Dwani Prathistana Award for journalism, Mayura Award from Karnataka Sangha Sharjah in 2007, Kannada Vaibhava in 2008, and also Felicitated by Karnataka Sangha Abu Dhabi in 2009 are to name a few to recognize his service to Karnataka culture and heritage. He was the president of Indian Pharmaceutical forum, UAE.
Chief Guest Zafrulla Khan honored B G Mohandas with shawl in the presence of honorable guests on the dais in traditional style followed by Peta from Sheena Devadiga, Garland by Dinesh Devadiga, flower by Vani U Devadiga, and fruits by Sudhakar Devadiga. Later another honorable guest Ganesh Rai, former president of Karnataka Sangha Sharjah, read out the Prashasti Patra before presenting it to B G Mohandas.
Chief Guest and one of the main sponsors Zafrulla Khan,CEO of Zain International companies and Hotels in his speech stressed the importance of social work and sincere service without any expectation and he also praised B G Mohandas for his work towards Karnataka’s heritage and culture and keeping them alive in Gulf.
One of the Guests and well-wisher, Ganesh Rai wholeheartedly praised the initiatives, progress, and work of KaDaMin a span of a year,this itself is a strong foundation for the success of KaDaM.
B G Mohandas felicitated Zafrulla Khan with shawl and a memento was given by Ganesh Rai.
In his felicitation speech B G Mohandas said that this is the most valuable honor which I ever had because it has come from my own community and expressed his happiness and thanked KaDaM.
