Dammam: SAB Wins JF Super Cup 2011

Dammam, Jan 3: Jamiyyatul Falah Dammam Unit has organized the annual Knockout Cricket Tournament ‘JF Super Cup 2011’ for a noble cause. The SAB won its first JF Super cup defeating Crescent by 36 runs in the finals played here at Rakah Ground recently.

The sports coordinator of ‘JF Super Cup 2011’ Siraj described the rules and regulations on the ground to all the 12 teams and the inaugural match of the preliminary match between ICC and KCC, which was followed by all other matches as per the schedule.

The quarter finals were played in the morning, which were followed by the semi-finals and then finals in the afternoon.

SAB won the toss and captain Salman elected to bat first. Salman and Irfan opened the inning for SAB. Both the openers failed to give good start as they were out when for 17 runs.

SAB immediately lost their vital wicket of Rifdi when the score was just 25 but the batsmen Muthalib and Iqbal played brilliantly and added 28 runs partnership for four wickets.  SAB managed to reach their total of 72/6 in the allotted 8 over.

Chasing the target of 73 Crescent’s frontline batsmen found it very difficult and failed to score runs against the fine line and length bowling by SAB bowlers. Crescent frequently lost wickets but their middle-order batsmen Afthab and Nabil tried to consolidate the innings. Losing them Crescent collapsed and was stuck to 37 runs in the allotted 8 overs.

Muthalib and Sanjeeva of SAB showed excellent bowling and clinched 3/14 and 2/2 respectively. Muthalib was crowned man of the match for his superb batting and bowling performances.

In the two semi-finals played earlier the first match was played between Real Tech (Jubail) and Crescent. Crescent defeated Real Tech by 9 wickets Real Tech stood at a score of 42/8 in allotted 8 overs.

The highest scorer for Real Tech was Rajesh with 20 runs. Crescent’s bowler Nabil and Waqar took 3/10 and 2/2 respectively. Crescent easily chased the target by scoring 46/1 and entered the Finals.

Second match was played between SAB and Expertise (Jubail), where in SAB defeated Expertise by 51 runs. Batted first SAB scored highest total of the Tournament 90 in allotted 8 overs.

In reply, Expertise was bundled down for 39 against the fine bowling and fielding performance from SAB.

The distinguish guests and the Main Sponsors managing director of SAB Salman and representative of Idealinks Jayan shared the dais with other prominent persons.

The second half of the tournament, presentation and the closing ceremony was hosted by general secretary of JF Dammam Unit Mansour Ali Ahmed.

He dedicated the success of the event to its Main Sponsors Idealinks and Saleh
Ayed Balharith Est (SAB) and to all the co-sponsors and the well-wishers of Jamiyattul Falah, who support.

President Munaf presented the memento and certificate of appreciation to main sponsors and co-sponsors.

The prize distribution ceremony was hosted by Javed Sayed and he announced the man of the match awardees for their performance in the preliminary, quarter finals, semi-finals and finals.

SAB team captain Salman received the winner’s trophy from Jayan. The Captain of the Crescent received the runners-up trophy from Salman.

The program commenced with recitation of Quran by president of JF Dammam Unit Abdul Hameed.

Munaf welcomed the gathering and ex-president and ex-NRCC Ameer of JF Dammam Shahul Hameed proposed the vote of thanks. Trophies were presented to match officials – Umpires and Scorers.

Individual awards presented to different players in various categories:

Man of the tournament: Muthalib of SAB

Best batsman of the tournament: Mubarak of Expertise (Jubail)

Best bowler of the tournament: Salman of SAB

Best wicket-keeper of the tournament: Muthalib of Real Tech (Jubail)

Best fielder of the tournament: Nabil of Crescent

Two semi final runner-up trophy: Real Tech (Jubail) and Expertise (Jubail)
