Seven Flights Cancelled in Delhi for Technical Reasons


New Delhi, Dec 24 (IANS): Seven flights which were scheduled to land at the Indira Gandhi International airport of the capital were cancelled Saturday due to operational reasons, airport officials said.

"Flights were cancelled because of operational or technical reasons of the airlines," an official with the Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL) thatr operates the IGI told IANS.

According to DIAL, 66 flights were delayed, of which 20 were due to bad weather conditions at the destination airports and the rest 46 flights due to operational or technical reasons.

On Friday, three flights were cancelled due to fog at IGI airport and six due to severe weather conditions at the destination. Twelve flights were cancelled due to operational glitches.

In terms of delays, 309 flights were effected - of which 86 were due to weather conditions in Delhi, 11 at the destinations and 212 due to the airlines' own operational reasons.
