Ajman: Gulf Medical University Hosts Workshop on Leadership

Ajman, Dec 24: A two-day ‘Workshop on Leadership’ was conducted by Dr Jonas Nordquist, PhD, Programme Director and Director, Medical Case Centre, Karolinska Institute, Sweden and Associate Director, Residency Programs at Karolinska University Hospital, Sweden.

The Workshop was attended by the Provost of GMU Prof Gita Ashok Raj, Prof Mohamed Arifulla – Dean, GMU Admissions Office, Prof Manda Venkataramana – Dean, College of Medicine and all the Deans of Gulf Medical University.

The participants included Dr Manvir Singh, Medical Director, GMC Hospital, Akbar Moideen, Director-GMC Hospitals, Dr Bharathi Mohan, Chief of Medical Staff, GMC Hospital and several senior administrators representing both instructional and non-instructional divisions of GMU attended the workshop which was held at the Kempinski Hotel, Ajman on December 18 and 19.

The two day workshop was conducted in the form of interactive sessions comprising of mini-lectures on leadership, strategic planning, political analysis and achievement of the institutional vision mixed with real case scenarios to make the learning contextualized and concrete for the participants.

A feedback from the participants provided an insight on the impact of these sessions on them in their improved understanding of their role in leadership during their operational activities of the university. It also provided an insight on the importance of understanding the organizational culture and political scenario while leading the institution towards the realization of its mission and vision.

“The Workshop on Leadership is the beginning of the series of workshops we plan to conduct on a regular basis for our leaders in our university”, said Prof Gita Ashok Raj.

Dr Jonas Nordquist and ProfGita Ashok Raj awarded certificate of participation to each participant upon the successful completion of the workshop.
