Manama: Explosives from Britain Found at Bahrain Airport

Manama, Dec 8 (IANS): A package that came from Britain and contained explosives has been detected at the Bahrain International Airport, Xinhua reported.

Bahraini security authorities announced Wednesday evening that they found the package at the airport in Muharraq, an island on the northern tip of Bahrain, about seven km northeast of the capital Manama.

The interior ministry said the explosives were reportedly sent from Britain through Dubai.

It, however, did not give details of the passenger from whom the package was seized nor the airlines the passenger travelled with.

On Dec 4, a blast occurred in a minibus parked near the British embassy in Manama, when Shia Muslims were taking part in a religious procession. There were no casualties, the interior ministry said.

The blast came a day after reports in the British media said former assistant commissioner at London's Metropolitan Police John Yates was appointed by Bahrain to help its interior ministry's security forces.

The Portuguese used force the Brits did not forcibly convert Indians to Christianity. Get your facts straight, don't behave like a bigot.

Over 80% of the Hindus and Sikhs supported and worked for the British that made it possible for them rule. So first accept responsibility of being partners, plunders and rape of your country by suppressing & killing your fellow countrymen who asked for freedom for a share of the loot in the form of a pay cheque.

If the British had not come to India Mogul rule and Sharia Law would have continued for an additional 400 years, possibly till this date. In British India about 25% of the population was Muslim, there would be no Pakistan or Bangladesh but India would be called “THE ISLAMIC REPUBLIC OF INDIA”. How India would have looked, and how non-Muslims are treated? Just look at Pakistan...and thank your stars. You should read Bill Durant’s book “The take over of India” bloodiest in the history of the world with over 50 million dead and counting.

Current statistics show 27% of Indian males unemployed from the age group of 18 to 60 (females are considered housewives) 50% are underemployed (which means they do not work for 40 hours a week and/or they do not earn enough money to support their families). Of the 13% employed an overwhelming majority with good paying jobs work directly or indirectly for foreign multi-nationals. Whereas in any Western country the highest number of unemployed is 11%. So who is Lazy??

You missed 'FORCIBLY CONVERTED', not just converted.

Don't try creating some false stories.

Neither british nor portugal are hardworking people. They are very lazy. They looted other countries to lead their life.. They knows only plundering others... Australia too same.. That is why they are not getting jobs there. Indians are occupying their jobs...

Prakash if you had Portuguese blood, you would have had better thoughts than what you write. This is a public site and I cannot explain you what is your blood. Portuguese Roman Catholic priests if converted your fore fathers, then surely you don't have their blood relationship because you know in our religion priests are not allowed to marry. More over we do not have any kind of attachment with Portugal on the basis of religion except our sernames which we use as tails to our names to confirm our neighbours to make them us their target to misuse us.

An overwhelming majority of Christians in India are Hindus (98%)who converted to Christianity. However, there is a small minority with mixed European and Indian heritage who are called Anglo Indians.

    Harsh Malhotra, Mangalore-New Delhi.
You can pick your battles and choose who is “Dost” & “Dushman”. The British traders through “The East India Company” ruled India, not by invading armies. There were less than 900 British ever on Indian soil some were in the army, some were in commerce or others doing something else.

Gandhiji had once said that if Indians refuse to work for the British there is no way that these hands full of people could rule over us? Though they took orders from the White man it was mainly Sikhs from the Punjab (which is very possibly the land of your forefathers) who were a majority in the Indian army that suppressed and killed their own countrymen for a salary.

So now you tell me who supported these so called Dushman of the Indian people?

Juliana, wht Tina meant to say was we have Portugal blood in us, actually British neither converted people to Christianity in India (wheteher by force or by peace) but Portugals did!, if in case British were involved in converting ppl by force then how come most of the countries which were being ruled by them are still non-Christian.
@Dinesh Poojary, Britishers were not our ancestors ,but Portuguese were!

Tina, you are neither Portuguese nor Brittish and never French. You are citizen of India and nowhere else. Why you assume all kinds of absurd things and create problem? If you were from Portugal how come you are citizen of India and stay in Manglore? Akkal se socho dear. Some people assume they directly descended from moon. Explosives are dangerous and should be tracked at the initial stage since they are dangerous all the time.

The easiest thing to do is blame others for all your mishaps. Hence, by shifting the blame onto the West and Israel, do you think your side has come clean??? For how many centuries more will you’ll be in a state of denial? With this attitude will there ever be peace?

Accepting that it is a homegrown problem, going in for a mutually acceptable solution and never repeating the same mistakes again is the key in solving the problems in the ME and have an enduring and lasting peace. If you will allow me to add that the key words are TOLERANCE & ATTITUDES.

There definitely has been negligence, and its obvious that measures will have to taken to yet again tighten security at airports.
And there are procedures that have to be completed before giving out name and other information of the passenger who brought this along with him. Officials cannot disclose information without being certain and then regret it later. Readers do not have to guess they can have patience and wait for s on the same news.
And we are all thankful that it was detected at Bahrain aiport and nothing went wrong.
