Ajman : Police Cadet Killed Moments after Escaping Accident

Ajman, Nov 27 (Emirates 24 x 7): An Emirati police cadet was killed by a speeding car on Emirates road near Ajman moments after escaping an accident between his motorcycle and another car on the same road, a newspaper reported on Sunday.

Khalifa Sultan, 38, was riding his motorcycle at night when he rammed into a car in front of him, the semi official daily Alittihad said.

Sultan escaped unhurt but had to stop his motorcycle and walk over to pick his helmet which fell off his head during the accident.

“As he was about to pick his helmet, another speeding car knocked him over, killing him instantly. The driver fled the scene and passers by told the police no one could pick the car number,” the paper said.

But it quoted Lt Colonel Shuaib Kajour, director of Ajman’s traffic police, as saying that car could have been filmed by the speed cameras dotting the road.

“There are many ways to arrest that driver. It is just a matter of time before we identify and arrest him,” he said.
