Dwayne Bravo Says Expect More Runs from Stylish Brother

Port of Spain, Nov 26 (IANS/CMC): Out-of-favour West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo has warned of more runs to come from his younger brother Darren Bravo.

The emerging batting star has scored nearly 1,000 runs already in the last 12 months, including three centuries, and has come to the fore in the ongoing three-Test series against India.

"He will bat and bat and bat. He does not bowl, all he likes to do is bat," said Dwayne.

"He has a big appetite for batting and this is showing up now and you can expect more big hundreds from him. He is not satisfied with a century, he wants to move on and get big hundreds and very soon he will get his double century."

The 22-year-old Darren, six years Dwayne's junior, has given glimpses of special talent since his days playing for the Young West Indies.

He announced himself on the Test stage with three half-centuries in his first four innings against Sri Lanka late last year, and then hit his maiden Test century - 195 against Bangladesh in Dhaka last month.

Bravo followed up with 136 in the second Test against India in Kolkata before carving out 166 in the first innings of the current third Test in Mumbai.

An elegant left-hander, Darren has already been compared to the legendary Brian Lara, and Dwayne noted that he had the same penchant for big scores.

"He has patterned himself on the great Brian Lara and we all know how Lara liked big hundreds," said Dwayne, who has lost his spot in the Windies side due to a run of poor form.

"I have told him that he needs to continue working hard and enjoy the good form he is in right now."

"As with all international players, he will endure a lean patch and what he needs to do is maximise the good form he currently has and get big runs. When the lean patch comes he needs to remember the good things he did while in form and this would help him get back in the groove."
