Ajman: Gulf Medical University Honours 59 Graduates on Eighth Convocation Ceremony

Ajman, Nov 25: Under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Member of the Supreme Council, UAE and Ruler of Ajman, Gulf Medical University honoured the achievements of 59 of its illustrious graduates at the Eighth Convocation Ceremony held on November 23 in the Al Zawraa Ball Room, Ajman Kempinski Hotel and Resort, Ajman.
 
Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi congratulated the graduates for their academic achievement. “This event signifies that each of the student has demonstrated the required intellectual ability and the personal qualities of hard work, perseverance and accomplishment to attain a special mark of recognition”, he said.

The grand ceremony was also graced by distinguished Guest of honour His Highness Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister for Higher Education and Scientific Research, Government of UAE, Humaid Mohammad Al Qattami, Minister of Education; Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Minister of Culture, Youth and Society and Acting Minister of Health; Shaikh Ammar Bin Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman.

Addressing the gathering Thumbay Moideen, Founder President of Gulf Medical University (GMU) congratulated the students for their achievements. He said that the occasion marked a great day of pride not just for the students, but also for their families as well as for the university. “In recognizing your academic accomplishments, we therefore celebrate the ideals, aspirations and goals that shape our lives as members of the GMU community. For this pursuit and for your hard work and success, we honour your achievements and those of your fellow students. I commend you all for your excellence in academics and wish you continued success,” said Moideen.

Moideen also thanked Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Sheikh Nahyan Bin Mubarak Al Nahyan for their unconditional support to the institution at all times. He, also congratulated the leaders of UAE on the 40th National Day (Spirit of the Union). “We assure you that we will strive our level best to live up to the aspirations of the Ruling Family of Ajman and the people of UAE”, Moideen added.

Out of a total of 59 graduates who received their graduation certificates from His Highness Sheikh Humaid Bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, 54 graduates from the College of Medicine (MBBS) comprising of 21 male and 33 female graduates, 04 graduates from College of Allied Health Sciences (BPT) comprising of 01 male and 03 female graduates and 01 graduate from Master of Science in Clinical Pathology (MScCP) received their graduation certificates during the high profile ceremony.

The graduates from the MBBS stream have successfully completed their training, thanks to the love and support of their families and the faculty in the colleges during the first and second years in GMU, the third year in GMC Hospital, Ajman, the fourth year in Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Hospital, Ajman and UAQ Hospital, Umm Al Quwain and the fifth year in Mafraq Hospital, Abu Dhabi. GMU prides itself to notify that 38 students in Ministry of Health Hospitals, 1 in Dubai Health Authority, 10 in Mafraq Hospital, Abu Dhabi, 1 in Tawam Hospital, Alain, 2 in Nigeria, 1 in Germany, 1 in Bangladesh and 4 students outside UAE have successfully completed their internship.

It is heart warming to note that currently many GMU graduates are successfully serving far and wide both in UAE and outside the country, especially in USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Germany, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and the neighboring GCC countries.

Seyed Morteza Mahmoudi and Ms. Shabina Ayoob Qureshi have been declared as the best outgoing students from the MBBS and BPT streams respectively.

The grand event was also attended by Sheikh Dr Majid Bin Saeed Al Nuaimi, Chairman – Ruler’s Court, Ajman, UAE, distinguished guests and dignitaries representing government departments and embassies stationed in UAE and abroad, members of the Board of Governors and the Academic Council, Provost, Deans, other senior university officials, faculty members, students and their family members as well as the members of the media.

The ceremony concluded with Provost of GMU, Prof Gita Ashok Raj taking the students through the graduation oath.
