Mumbai, Nov 23: West Indies batsmen showed an improved batting performance on the first day of the second test match again India on Tuesday November 22. Their top order which batted well in the second innings the second test at Kolkata repeated their performance in Mumbai too.

After winning the toss, West Indies captain Sammy took the right decision to bat first.

Openers Adrian Barath and Kraig Brathwaite put together 137 for the first wicket, which was the best performance by West Indies openers in this series. After lunch, in the 53rd over India tasted first success when off spinner Ashwin sent Barath back to the pavilion. Barath scored 62 with the help of a dropped catch by V V S Laxman. He was caught behind by Mahendra Singh Dhoni.

Six overs later, Ashwin struck again when he sent Kraig Brathwaite (68) packing. Virat Kohli took the catch.

Thereafter Bravo and Edward continued thier tremendous form here too in Mumbai. The duo has already put together 117 runs in 32 overs. At stumps on day 1, Edward was batting on 65 and Bravo on 57.

India has made one change to the team. Pacer Varun Aaron got to make his test debut in place of Umesh Yadav who was rested.

The two successive test victory against West Indies has promoted India to the second position in the test ranking with 117 points on the table. South Africa who has the chance to retain no. 2, lost the place India after it lost to Australia in the second test at Durban on Monday. The series between South AFrica and Australia ended in draw.

Currently England stands top of the ranking list with 125 points. Australia at fourth place with 105 points. Next Sri Lanka (99), Pakistan (98), and West Indies in Eight position with 88 points.
