Kundapur, Sep 12: The government is attempting to portray the riots in Nagamangala as a minor incident, according to Subrahmanya Holla, a key leader of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP). Criticizing the response of the state, he mentioned that the home minister referred to it as a small incident. Holla added that there is an effort to suppress the media and emphasized that Hindus are not weak; they are prepared to defend their religion with arms if necessary.
Holla was speaking at a large protest organized by the VHP and Bajrang Dal Kundapur unit on September 12 in Shastrivritta, Kundapur, condemning the communal violence that occurred during the Ganapati immersion procession in Badarikoppalu, Nagamangala taluk, Mandya district.
He expressed that when it comes to Hindu religious matters, Hindus feel their sentiments are being hurt. "Today, India must survive for Hindustan to survive. For the welfare of the world, India must endure. Afghanistan has become Taliban-controlled, Pakistan is in turmoil, and similar attempts are being made to divide Hindustan. The Nagamangala incident reflects a Jihadi mindset," he remarked.
VHP district co-secretary Surendra Koteshwara also addressed the gathering, questioning whether Hindus no longer have the right to perform religious processions. "Does the Ganapati procession hurt their religious sentiments? In the past, Hindu kings had provided land for the construction of mosques, but today, there is a growing trend of violence against Hindus. On one hand, there are efforts to divide the nation, and on the other, Hindus are being killed through acts of terrorism. How long should Hindus remain patient?" he questioned.
The protest was attended by VHP taluk president Sudhir Merdi, secretary Pradeep Markodu, BMS district president Girish Kundapur, Shankar Ankadatka, Srinath, BJP Kundapur Mandal president Suresh Shetty Gopadi, general secretary Sudhir K S, and prominent leaders including Mohandas Shenoy, Santosh Shetty, Prabhakar, Shekhar Poojary, and Prakash Kharvi.
