Mumbai: Gopalakrishna Asranna Memorial Yakshagana Performance Held

Mumbai, Oct 26: A grand Yakshagana performance was organized with the coming together of renowned Yakshagana artistes on Sunday. The programme, held at Mahakavi Kalidas Hall at Mulund (West) in the metro, was held in memory of the late Kateel Gopalakrishna Asranna.

Bunts Sangha Mumbai president, Aikala Harish Shetty, presided. Priest of Kateel Goddess Durgaparameshwari Temple, Lakshminarayana Asranna, attended the programme and delivered benedictory address.

Sri Suvarna Baba from Powai Panchakuteera, Chandrahas M Rai, Chandrashekhar Palettady, Sunny Shetty, Sunanda Shetty, Dharmapal U Devadiga, Suresh Shetty Bellary, Dr Suresh S Rao Kateel, Ramesh Shetty Bairuguttinar, Suresh R Kanchan, Gopal Putran, Surendrakumar Hegde, Babu S Shetty Malad, Raghu P Shetty, Vijay Shetty, Keshava Anchan, Anand D Shetty, S N Udupa, Preeti Ravi Kotian, Ganesh Shetty Aikala, Sadashiva A Shetty, Anil Shetty Elinje, Ashok D Salian, Ashok Kotian, Vishwanath Shetty, Maratha Suresh Shetty, and Chandrashekhar Belchada, were present at the dais.



President of Kannada Sangha Bahrain, Rajkumar, was felicitated at the programme. Gerukatte Gangaiah Shetty, Peruvai Narayan Bhat, Patla Satish Shetty, Thandimane Sripad Bhat, Bayar Ramesh Bhat, Nagri Mahabala Rai, Manki Eshwar Naik, Rakesh Mallya Halladi, Sudhakar Tumbe, Ganesh Maiya Varkady and others, were also honoured by the guests.

A Yakshagana episode titled ‘Sampoorna Shree Devi Mahatme’ was presented on the occasion. The Yakshagana performance was directed by Dhareshwar, Polya Lakshminarayan Shetty, and Patla Satish Shetty.

Mumbaii convener of Bunts Sangha, Prakash M Shetty Suratkal, manager of the Yakshagana troupe, Kukkundoor Karunakar Shetty, and Padmanabh Kateel Dubai were present, Karnur Mohan Rai compered the programme.
